Is there a call-out fee?+
No. There's no call-out fee on any job.
How quickly is my certificate approved?+
We lodge it with TMR electronically during the inspection. Most are approved within the hour.
Can you come today?+
Call before 11am and we can usually inspect the same day.
What if my car fails?+
We'll explain exactly what needs fixing and quote the repair on the spot.
You have 14 days to fix the items listed and book a re-inspection. After 14 days, TMR removes the inspection from their system and a new full inspection is needed, including updated onsite brake test data.
Who has to get the Safety Certificate, the buyer or the seller?+
The seller. It's the seller's legal responsibility to provide a current Safety Certificate when selling a registered vehicle.
How long is a Safety Certificate valid?+
For private sellers, 2 months or 2,000 km, whichever comes first. For licensed dealers, 3 months or 1,000 km.
How long does the inspection take?+
Allow 40 to 50 minutes. Your certificate is issued electronically and a digital copy is sent to you.
My car is unregistered. Can you still inspect it?+
Yes. We can inspect unregistered vehicles, and if it passes you can use the certificate to register it.
Can I give the buyer a digital copy?+
Yes. Your certificate is issued electronically. You can give the buyer the digital copy or the certificate number.
How can I pay?+
We accept Afterpay and all major cards, including Amex.

Is a Safety Certificate the same as a roadworthy?+
Yes. The Safety Certificate replaced the Roadworthy Certificate in 1999.
